Seattle Reign FC earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Kansas City Current on Friday night at Lumen Field, continuing their climb up the NWSL table with a key three points. The match was highlighted by veteran striker Lynn Biyendolo, who scored her first goal for the club and solidified her status as one of the league’s all-time greats.

The lone goal of the match came in the 37th minute, when Biyendolo made a well-timed run into the box to meet a low cross from midfielder Quinn. Biyendolo slotted the ball past Kansas City goalkeeper Adrianna Franch with clinical precision, registering her 81st career goal and her first in a Seattle Reign FC jersey.

The Reign controlled much of the first half with solid possession and high pressing, which kept Kansas City on the back foot. Despite a flurry of efforts from Kansas City in the second half, Seattle’s defense held firm, anchored by standout performances from defenders Alana Cook and Sofia Huerta. Goalkeeper Claudia Dickey made three crucial saves to preserve the clean sheet, showing poise under pressure as Kansas City pushed for an equalizer late in the game.

Head coach Laura Harvey praised her squad’s resilience and unity:
“It was a gritty performance, and that’s exactly what we needed tonight. Lynn has been a leader both on and off the pitch, and seeing her find the back of the net in front of our home fans was really special.”
The victory marks a turning point for the Reign, who had been struggling for consistency in the early part of the 2025 season. With Friday’s win, they improve their record and gain much-needed momentum heading into a busy stretch of fixtures.

Kansas City, meanwhile, will look to regroup after the loss. Despite moments of promise from Debinha and Michelle Cooper in midfield, they were unable to capitalize on their second-half dominance.
